NTL informed that when cervicography is combined with cytology test, 98% of cervical cancer can be detected.

Since cervical cancer does not have any significant symptoms, it is not easy to detect it. Especially, these days, cervical cancer is occurring a lot to women age of 20’s than before because of early sexual experiences. Therefore, regular screening is recommended nationally and implemented to women over 20 years old in order to decrease the number of occurrence starting from last year. Because the progression of cervical cancer takes 5 to 15 years, only if cervical cancer is detected at the early stage, there is a higher rate of recovery.

According to National Cancer Information Center, however, cytology test utilized for cervical cancer free checkups has sensitivity of only 50%. As there are numerous types of HPV, it is impossible to be sure that you are 100% safe from cervical cancer even though vaccination against HPV is conducted.
Nevertheless, cervicography is an adjunctive test of cytology test in that it supplements low sensitivity of the latter from 50% to 98%. Cervicography is morphological method which enlarges image of cervix up to 50 times and specialized evaluator of NTL interprets the image. You can get result within 24 hours.

Professor Woong Joo in Ewha Womans University Mokdong Hospital said, “Despite cytology test is basic for early detection of cervical cancer, it is essential to have screening test periodically because of the low accuracy. Therefore, it is recommended to implement cervicography and HPV test along with cytology test in a purpose of increasing the accuracy.”

President Shin of NTL, the medical institution expertized in cervical cancer screening, said, “When combination of cytology and cervicography is conducted in a regular basis, it would enable 100% prevention of cervical cancer.”
